Marit finished 7th in the Grand Prix of St Petersburg. - An ok result in a rough race, but I feel an urge to climb the list now, says Marit after the race. Starting off in 10th position, she had a good start and took a couple of boats in the start. All throughout the race Marit was squeezed in between the two drivers from the China Team and ended the race just a few meters behind their driver Pierre Lundin. Sami Selio won the race in front of his teammate Alex Carella. Jay Price finished off the podium in third. Marit's teammate Jonas Andersson had a pretty good race finishing 5th.

Marit was a bit unhappy after today's qualifying. The boat seems very light and loose in the rough conditions in St Petersburg.

Team Azerbaijan is now ready for the start of the F1 Powerboat Championship in Portimao, Portugal. Race starts the following weekend and the team is already there to prepare for the new racw.

New this year is the race format. The qualifying system is now similar to the F1 cars and the race weekend consists of one long race instead of two shorter as last year. Also the EFI boxes will be more standarized and it will reduce the RPM slightly which hopefully will create more boats finishing the races.

The season will be very exiting. There are a few new drivers in the lineup and new team constellations. The biggest news is that 10 times World Champion Guido Cappelini has decided to end his F1 carreer after he won the 10th title last year. In Team Azerbaijan the linup will still be the same with Jonas Andersson racing in number 14 and Marit Strømøy racing in boat 15. The team has one 2010 modell DAC and Guidos boat from 2008.

Stay tuned here for more racing news during the week!

On the second race some technical problems forced them to retire on the opening lap.

Marit was the trottleman of boat 91 and was happy to finish her first two Class 1 races with World Championship points. - I'm very grateful for this opportunity to race with the Welmax team, says Marit.
